This place was so great!! We all had amazing apps, lovster mushrooms, the fried provolone with sausage was to die for. Loved all of our food and the place itself is really nice. Try it, You will not be sorry!!

Had an amazing food experience at my son's wedding rehearsal dinner this past weekend. My now daughter in-law recommended Tap Root & so glad she did! We were a group of 20 & the service & food were top notch! Everyone enjoyed & raved about the dish they chose. So impressed with the fried broccoli & cheese curds appetizers! The complimentary rolls were out of this world delicious! Our party consisted of a few locals that had nothing but good things to say about their previous experiences. Half our group was from out of state & everyone agreed this was a memorable experience they will relish forever!

Went here before a show at the Lincoln Square. We are from out of town and had never been to Decatur. This was a great restaurant with an outstanding menu. Had a surf and turf special with filet mignon and screen stuffed shrimp. So great!

Had a great dinner here. Definitely recommend the salted caramel white Russian. Apparently this used to be a jewelry store, and the wooden bar is beautiful.

My husband and I celebrated our anniversary by eating here on Sat. Feb 7th. Nice atmosphere for having conversations. The beef short ribs were so tender. The garlic roasted green beans & mashed potatoes yummy.

I am a local but this was my first time at Taproot, it was delicious, I will definitely go back soon. I had the Signature Short Ribs with Mashed Potatoes and garlic roasted green beans. I’ll admit when the food came out, I thought I was going to leave hungry, but it really was plenty of food. I also started with the appetizer they had in special, some breaded mushrooms with rooster sauce. They were good, but I was wishing I would have tried the Calamari. The server was so friendly and great. Pretty too. ;) The restaurant is on Merchant Street in downtown Decatur, one of the coolest streets in Decatur with lights stretched over the street.

Absolutely amazing! The freshly baked rolls are served drenched in melted butter. The perfectly cooked butcher's steak, served with twice baked potato and roasted garlic green beans, was one of the best meals I've had in a restaurant. Edit: I've been back a few more times. The short ribs are excellent. The drunken pork chop was just average, not much flavor from the bourbon and maple. Probably one of the best cups of French onion soup I've had. The hot rock appetizer is incredible.

We came here because the grille was having a private event and we were hungry. From the outside, it doesn't look as nice as the inside is! I thought it was going to be like a pub and grille. But the black linen table clothes, fresh flowers on every table, low lighting and soft music background, makes this spot an incredibly romantic date night spot. We were sat near a window and the waiter quickly greeted us at the table for our drink order. The espresso martini is like drinking chocolate covered coffee beans and I immediately decided I would like to have one of them every morning instead of my normal coffee. We ordered cheese curds from the appetizer menu and those were decent, however we weren't crazy about the cocktail sauce for the dip. A simple marinara would have been nice. For dinner I ordered the veggie burger on the pretzel bun with fries. It has a very distinct flavor, but a good one at that. With a little sauce or seasoning of some sort, this burger would be perfect. My boyfriend had the regular burger with bacon and fries and says it was good, but nothing special. However, the dessert was HEAVENLY. The dessert made everything else worth it. We ordered the strawberry sh
